very good season for the guys

congratulation !!!

jodi and tony

last race jodi win and tony finish top 5 on championship

Riders who have won at least one (1) RACE event over the duration of a season, as well as,

placing in the top five (5) in the end of season championship standings for their class, will

automatically be advanced to the Professional level. Riders will be evaluated for status

advancement at the end of each season and only under special circumstances will a rider be

advanced in mid-season.

I don't think Tony Lanni won this year, so I don't think he would have to go pro, but I could be wrong...

How old is Brett?

The rule is the rule.

when you start the race ,the first job it is read the rulebook and check if you dont want go pro  check the rule.dont check after to win.

why change the rule because is to young.if you dont want to upgrade just dont win the race.

tony finish top five on championship

I see your point Roz'...

I think it is always best if one is to quote the rule book, it is best to show all of the info that applies to the subject.

If any riders who have not met with the preceding advancement requirements wish to be
upgraded from Amateur to Professional status, they can apply to the RACE office and present
their case to be judged on their own merit. As well, any riders slated for mandatory
advancement can protest their change in license status by presenting evidence showing why
they should remain in their current rider classification group. A Minor Protest Fee of $75.00
applies.

So if one wanted to be very strict to the rules, it could be said that he would/should have to move up as he does meet the criterion set forth. A protest could be filed alternatively, per the rulebook. I respect that he is a 14 year old, and would be racing pro as a 15 year old, but if anything we could look to McCormick (sp?) as reference that age has little to do with being fast as well as Jodi.

It could be argued that he has lack of experience (passing, starts, strategy etc) in as much as he is blisteringly fast having won both Novice and Amateur level races (both in his first year) and could still benefit from a year of Amateur level racing for 2008.

Alternatively, would staying in Amateur level benefit his speed or hinder? I cannot answer that question.
Obviously he is doing something VERY right as he was riding a national level Yamaha the last round, in his first year of road racing. Darn kid is dang quick.

hahahahaha.  I love that you are quoting the top 5 rule.  Good luck with that.  Usually only 1 or 2 people get forced up, so I'm sure if he wants he definitely has a case to stay in amateur.  That being said, that kid is quick!

So, what kind of alternate universe do you live in? Sounds like a nice place!

Every year, people who really shouldn't have to go pro, are forced to. And every year, people who should have to go pro, manage to get out of it.

Deal with it.

Neither Tony or Jodi will be pro next year, and neither of them should be. Jodi needs his year of running at the front of amatuer, to learn, and to get the attention he needs to get enough support to run pro in '09. Tony, well, he needs to learn to stay on his bike when he's in a podium position.
